Following WWI, in 1920, the French government created an award, Famille Francaise, for the mothers of multiple children. The children had to be at least 5 years old and have a strong sense of patriotism and duty. This award was the Silver one which was given to mothers of 8-9 children. The necklace is about 17” of hand wired white freshwater pearls and sterling silver hook clasp. It comes with the original ribbon that came with the award.
